I mean, in Pink’s secret room, it looks like she may have been studying the pink stones from a few pieces of rock. In fact, while I don’t think that Rose was the Pink Diamond… I think it’s possible that she may have been made as some sort of Diamond-Quartz hybrid. =3)Īnyway… sidetracked… compelled to point out inconsistencies with the “Rose = Pink” thing… yadda yadda… While I don’t believe that Rose was Pink Diamond, I’m really starting to think that she was specially made. (It looks like they’re both being tinted by one of those pink sunsets. One exception to definitely-Rose being peach-colored is in the “Nora” tape… but in that tape, …In fact, the only time Pearl clearly remembers Rose having that kind of skin tone is when seeing Garnet’s first fusion - otherwise, she looks pink. …but no clearly-lit shots (or, I’d say, even any shaded ones) of Pink really look like they have Rose’s peach-coloring. (The colors aren’t exact, but they’re pretty close - particularly with the the Pink hair/Rose skin color.) In recaps and flashbacks, the narrative seems to be that Pink (more-or-less) swapped her hair and skin colors to achieve the “Rose” look. Along with her shape, Rose’s coloring is different - whereas standard Rose Quartzes all have skin + hair in the reddish-purplish spectrum of “pink,” the Rose has more human-like skin, much more in the yellow-orangish range… …I will point out that not only did Rose supposedly have the basic shape for them before she’d even met any organic women, but Pearl supposedly suggested that shape.Īt any rate, the point is that she’s a bit different than usual, and it may not be by choice. (Incidentally, I wonder what the actual odds would be of just getting a Rose Quartz that looks virtually identical to Rose. I’m sure many have noticed by now that Rose has certain features that average Rose Quartzes do not - one that’s normally associated with organic women. (A lot of this may be interesting in either case.) But as I believe there’s more than enough room for doubt, I’m going to tackle the subject as if she were not. Granted, she obviously would be if she really were Pink Diamond. XD Thankfully, I managed to get it done, and BEFORE the next eps came out, so… Enjoy, if you will. But I would hazard a guess that her size, shield, and general willingness to fight on the front line are reasonably "Rose Quartz"-like that the protective bubbles are kind of borderline and the rest are particular to her exceptional origins.Whew… I struggled a lot with this one, and not because I decided to tackle two subjects at once. Otherwise it's hard to say at this point which powers might have been considered relatively "normal" for a Rose Quartz to have. ![]() We have also seen Blue and Yellow Diamond exhibit powers akin to what we've seen Steven use: an ability to heal other gems, as well as apparent psychic and astral abilities. We also know that abilities and weapons can vary at least slightly within a given type of gem: the Ruby that's part of Garnet manifests a gauntlet for a weapon (much like Garnet herself) while we see a different Ruby manifest, and try to attack Steven with, a chisel. ![]() We have been told that in general quartzes are supposed to be bulky warrior types. But possibly we will see some in upcoming episodes. And no abilities were on display either way. We did see an apparently large congregation of "pink" gems on Steven's latest arrival, but I didn't see enough detail to even know if they were Rose Quartzes or not (we have seen several gems have different hues, though, such as Pearls). I don't recall a single Rose Quartz appearing in non-bubbled form (maybe some silhouettes one time when a false backstory was narrated about how Rose first started to rebel) anywhere in the series.
